Marc Grossman’s 2020 Vision: Integrated Health and Natural Eye Care

marc-grossmans-2020-vision-integrated-health-and-natural-eye-care.jpgThe world is changing. Our concepts of western medicine have shifted over the past 30 years. Today’s public wants a more comprehensive, integrated approach from health care providers. Complementary, integrated health care is slowly replacing the idea of referring each symptom to a different specialist. We need to look at the whole person, his or her dietary preferences, exercise regimen, and the types of relationships they are engaged in. Also, we need to examine the particular symptoms that created their condition in the first place. Natural eye care techniques offer a unique understanding of improving and preserving vision from birth to old age. They help prevent vision problems. And they also help us understand vision in its totality. Filled with the wisdom of both ancient and modern-day medicine, natural eye care integrates the full range of therapies as they apply to vision and vision disorders. Vision problems are multiplying at epidemic proportions in our society and around the world. Natural eye care methods will show you how to become an active participant in your own vision care. The primary goal is to offer a comprehensive approach to vision care based on an underlying philosophy that emphasizes prevention rather than cure. We celebrate the healing power within all of us and the mind/body’s inherent potential for self-healing. The eye care industry is a multibillion-dollar business. Glasses, contact lenses, medications, and eye surgery enter the lives of virtually all the people of the Western world. Patients come to their eye doctor’s office year and after year, with their eyesight usually getting worse.

Examples

Cataracts are common in adults over the age of 70. The eye doctor might say, “Oh, you have the beginning of a cataract. Let’s watch it, and when it gets worse, we can do surgery.” Cataract surgery replaces the lens with an artificial lens. Many patients with elevated eye pressure are told, “Come back in six months, and we can watch your eye pressure. If it gets too high, we can give you medication or do surgery.” The patient is usually on glaucoma medications for the rest of their life. The patient asks if there is anything they can do while the doctor is “watching it,” the answer is usually “NO! We only know what to do if it gets worse.” Where is the much-needed prevention, education, etc.? Something is very wrong with this picture!

Natural Eye Care

Numerous peer-reviewed studies show clearly that these eye conditions can be helped by using an integrated approach. This includes diet, exercise, nutrition, herbs, nutraceuticals, Chinese medicine, essential oils, and more. Medication and surgery are, many times, necessary. I do recommend them in my office when needed. They can definitely help to preserve vision. However, there is no reason not to integrate both to elevate the standard of care for people. marc-grossmans-2020-vision-integrated-health-and-natural-eye-care-1.jpgThroughout the year 2020, I will release a series of articles about the common ground that I have found effective in my over 40 years of practice. My approach unites the strengths of Western medicine and the advantages of other healing modalities to help prevent and even reverse in many eye conditions.
